Etiquette doesn't just mean RSVPs and dinner party manners, it's a reflection of your entire outlook on social interaction and public life. Not holding the door open for a little old lady says something about you to everyone who sees it -- namely, that you can't spare five seconds to be a half-decent guy.

In most situations, your image and appearance isn't just part of what defines you; it's the only thing that defines you. People who don't know anything about you are going to fill in the blanks with the only information they have, which is how they see you behave. Regardless of how you think of yourself, one awful social habit can easily become the thing that comes to identify you: Anyone who sees you chewing your food like a cow and acting belligerent toward your waitress is going to remember that stuff far before your job title or sophisticated wit.

No.1 Eating with your mouth open

Eating like an animal is simply one of the worst social mistakes you can make. It graduates from merely a bad habit that reflects poorly on you to something that actively disgusts other nearby people trying to enjoy their food. Women in particular find this awful, and it's one of the most common stereotypes of a hopeless, classless guy. This applies to more than just eating for that matter: The term "mouth-breather" is not exactly synonymous with refinement and social graces, so take your cues from that and ditch this habit as soon as humanly possible.

No.2 Grooming in public

Public grooming infringes on our shared social contact; whether you think anyone's looking at you or not, it's simply not OK. Virtually anything that you'd normally go into a restroom to do should be confined to one, including cleaning your ears, clipping your fingernails and anything else related to personal hygiene. An old-school take on this would essentially be to keep your hands away from your face entirely when you're in public, but how about this: Don't do anything you wouldn't proudly and unconcernedly do in front of an attractive woman.

No.3 Being a gym slob

Gym etiquette is pretty simple, but that doesn't prevent every gym from suffering its share of inconsiderate gym slobs. These are the guys who monopolize equipment even if they don't appear to be doing much of anything with it, who drop free weights or duffel bags in heavily-trafficked areas where they're likely to kill somebody, and who can't understand (or don't care) that leaving sweat on a bench or machine is gross and inexcusable. One overarching rule will prevent most gym slovenliness: Don't act like you're the most important person in the world. Act like you share this place with a bunch of people who are paying money to use it -- because, well, you do.

No.4 Talking solely about yourself

Narcissism is not an attractive quality. Yes, there are some guys who can pull off being arrogant and self-absorbed, but this does not give you license to imitate them. Accidentally dominating conversations without intending to come off as self-involved is really no better because the end result is the same. Resist the urge to respond to every sentence with some version of: "Yeah, and here's how that applies to me!" Just shut up for 60 seconds and hear the words people are saying. Then, to top it all off, ask a perceptive question. This is what makes people feel like you care about anyone other than yourself.

No.5 Treating service staff poorly

Service staff often make less than the minimum legal requirement because it's assumed that you're going to be a reasonable human being and tip 15% to 20%. It's completely OK to tip less than that figure to indicate that you were unhappy with your service, if it's genuinely justified. It's not OK to avoid leaving a tip because you're cheap or were unprepared for the expense. For that matter, don’t send food back for the tiniest mistakes or abuse the staff like they're your servants. Yes, they're required to take this from you, but that's unrelated to the fact that it makes you look like an intolerable ass.

No.6 Not giving up your seat

In the same way that many rules of etiquette are designed to keep you from being self-centered, the "give up your seat to someone who needs it more" rule is basic human decency and not a discussion about gender politics. Maybe the pregnant woman or frail old lady doesn't technically require your hard-won public transit seat, and maybe you had a terrible day, your feet hurt and the bus is packed with miserable people, but suck it up and give up the damn seat already.

No.7 Being late

People like to feel valued, and if you're looking for a surefire way to indicate that you don't value them at all, go ahead and just fail to show up. You can come in 20 minutes later with a pretty good explanation, but when it comes down to it, the other person is left wondering why he

evidently cares more about this relationship than you do. Especially in a professional setting dealing with clients and bosses, being late is a starkly noticeable way to divide the room into capable, considerate people and people who merely have long-winded excuses about cars not starting.

No.8 Arguing over a check

Here's a simple rule for group dining situations: Prepare to pay an even share, but don't take advantage of that possibility by overindulging. Go into dining situations expecting that some loud guy you don't really like is going to order three $20 martinis after his steak and expect to split that with you and your sandwich. If this is consistent behavior and it's making you furious, deal with it in a different setting instead of launching into an accusatory check argument right there in the restaurant. Besides, you're paying a small price to demonstrate that you're gracious and magnanimous.

No.9 Not removing yourself to take a cell phone call

In almost every social situation, the people who actually physically share the room with you are owed your attention more than someone who's just calling or texting. This is especially noticeable and aggravating when at a dinner table or similarly personal setting, but it applies to almost any situation when you're not alone. Even if you're just waiting in line with total strangers, try to keep your phone conversation to yourself as much as possible.

No.10 Failing to introduce people

Whether in a professional or social setting, it's always awkward if you fail to introduce two people when you're their only shared acquaintance. This is really just common courtesy, but if you're called away from the conversation, it also leaves these folks making strained small talk while not even aware of each other's names. There are technically some agreed-upon rules to making professional introductions (such as saying the name of the professionally superior person first), but none of that is as important as remembering to make the introductions in the first place.

PART 1 Check that babe out.

1. Hey, look that chick/babe over there.

2. She is gorgeous!

She is a knock-out

She turns me on.

比如在ross kiss chandler's mother那集中,joey很自豪的把老妈年轻时的照片给ross看:now you tell me ,she's not a knock-out~~~~~~~huh

She turns me on.

3. She is cute as hell

Do you know Amy? She is a cutie

I think she is a hottie.

She is hot.

前两个就是讲的可爱,后面两个`````回忆一下joey的表情咯:phoebe is Phoebe, Ursula is .....hot....~~

4. She is well-developed.

Do you like blondes or brunettes

5. Those boys like to hit on me all the time.

想想joey那句经典 :hey ,how u doing`````` 这就是hit on咯

PART 2 I love her ,i wish she was my wife.

1 I have a crush on her.

在crush前面加点东西可以增加表达强度,比如Ross用过,i have a major crush on you。 Phoebe用过:I have an enormous crush on you.

2 I like to talk to her. I guess we are in the same wavelength.

We have chemistry.

3 Is she your buddy friend or sweetheart friend?

4 Do you believe in love at the first sight?

I miss her terribly.

I can't live without her. She makes me feel so speical.

I hope she will become my girlfriend and my better half in the long run.

5 He is still my one true love。

I like him to hold my hand and fooling around.

6 It didn't go anywhere.

"It didn't go anywhere."

between us."

didn't go anywhere." 或是也可以这么说, "It didn't work out."

7 It's always been you.

PART 3 I am sorry. But i have something else in my mind. I gonna go ~

1 I am really not in the mood.

I'll think about it.

I am sorry to turn you down.

I really want to, but I got hundreds of things to do.

turn/let sb down 让sb失望

2 I am emotionally unavailable.

如果你看到一个hot babe ,你have crush on her ,就可以问她的朋友: is she available? or is she taken?

3 There is nothing to talk about.

I don't want to go and that's that.

PART 4 two of them kissed last night

1 I don't want to be the third wheel.

2 love triangle

3 He is dating another girl on the side.

He is dating another girl behind her back

4 I am the one-woman kinda man.

5 I saw you smooching the other girl just outside my window.

smooch就是kiss啦

6 1. I still have feelings for her.

英文的用法也十分类似, 特别提到自己的前任男女朋友时, 常会说, "I still have feelings forher/him." Janice

He still has feelings for you.", 更劲爆的是下一句, "Feelings can't go forever, but you can."

PART 5 WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!

1 I'm all over you.

I'm over you.

前者相当于 i have a crush on you.而后者是we're over. 这个用法R&R迷应该都很熟悉吧,当ross首次发现rachel深爱着他的时候,u are over me ? u are over me? so when did u under me~~~哈哈,巨搞笑``````

2 We had a fight yesterday.

3 I had a falling out with my boyfriend.

We decided to break up. To be more precise, he dumped me.

That's a heart-breaking story.

fall out with break up 分手`

````5555555555555555555
4 I really want to talk to him now but he screens the phone line.
还记得chandler一次冒充bob接一个hot babe的电话吗?之前他在做什么? 呵呵,就是screen the phone line 过滤电话,当然他不是因为和谁谁分手才这样做,但在break up中,过滤电话还是一种很常见的行为啊,,,比如说我gf吧,我call了整整284遍她才接``````
本人始终认为marriage不是什么好事,所以也不整理关于marriage和divoce的用语咯
就用这段话来结尾吧
I, Ross, take thee Rachel to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part
英语俗语
guys用在什么场合 第四篇
011
to pull your socks up//to knock your socks off
许多美国成语或者习惯用语都是以各种衣服的名称来组成的。比如说,"衬衫"--shirts;"裤子
"--pants;"领子"--collars。在今天的「美国习惯用语」时间里,我们要向大家介绍两个由socks,也就是"袜子"这个字组成的习惯用语。1987年在美国开始竞选总统的前夕,民主党候选人哈特说,民主党的党员
们应该:
例句-1:Pull their socks up and get back in the game.
把袜子拉起来,这是什么意思?他的意思是民主党的党员应该振作起精神,投入竞选总统的运动中去。另外再举一个例子。比如说有一个篮球队正在参加比赛。比赛已经进入下半场,可是他们一直在失分;队员们也都一个个情绪低落,疲乏不堪,脚上的袜子也已经从膝盖滑到了脚跟。这时候,他们的教练就要
求暂停,把队员们叫在一起,然后对他们说:
例句-2:Pull your socks up.
也就是说,你们要振作起来,回到场地去加油干。下面的一个例子是一个大公司的推销部经理在对
手下的推销员讲话:
例句-3:I have bad news: our sales were off 18% for the last quarter. So I'm telling you guys -- you have to pull your socks up and get out there and sell more stuff, or you'll be looking for new
jobs this summer.
他说:"我有个不好的消息:我们上一季度的销售量下降了18%,所以我告诉你们,你们赶快振作起
来到外面去加紧推销。否则,你们今年夏天就要另外找工作了。"
另外一个由socks组成的习惯用语是: knock your socks off. Knock your socks off的意思和pull your socks up完全不同。它的意思是:使人感到非常震惊。下面这个例子是一个老板在对他的推销
员说话:
例句-4:Wait until you hear my new marketing plan -- it'll knock you socks off!
他说:"等你们听到我的推销计划时,你们都会大吃一惊的。"也就是说,他的推销计划简直好极了,
那些推销员听了会十分惊讶的。
下面是一个大学生在对他的同学说关于他见到的一个女孩:
例句-5:Have you seen Jack's sister, who's here visiting from California? She'll knock your【guys用在什么场合】
socks off: she's the most gorgeous-looking woman I've seen for a long time.
他说:"你见到了杰克那个从加州来的妹妹吗?我好久没有见到过这样漂亮的女孩了,她简直是美得
惊人
To work hand in glove的意思是密切合作。我们来举个例子吧:
例句-3: "The local police are working hand in glove with the FBI to find the bank robbers."
这是说:"当地的警察正在和联邦调查局密切合作设法找到那些抢劫银行的罪犯。"
Hand in glove这个词汇也经常用在反面的场合,形容一些人合谋犯罪等。下面就是一个例子:
例句-4: "I read in the paper about this customs officer they arrested at the airport. They caught him working hand in glove with a gang of smugglers to bring diamonds into the country
without paying duty."
这个人说:"我在报纸上看到有关那个在机场被逮捕的海关官员的消息。他们发现他和一些走私者密
切合作,把钻石带进来而不缴关税。"
to keep an ear to the ground,意思是保持高度警觉
up to one's ears,这是指很忙,或者是完全介入某件事的意思。up to one's ears。 Up to one's ears【guys用在什么场合】
有好几个意思。首先,它可以解释成"很忙"的意思。比如说:
例句-3: "Half the people in my office are home sick, so I'm up to my ears!"
这个人说:"我办公室里有一半的人有病请假,所以我简直忙得不得了。"
下面这个例子是一个丈夫为了逃避到厨房去帮他太太的忙正在找借口:
例句-4:"Gee, honey, you know I'd like to help you paint the kitchen tonight, but I'm up to my
ears in paper work I had to bring home from the office. "
这个丈夫说:"亲爱的,你知道我很愿意今晚帮你把厨房上油漆。可是我从办公室带回来好些要做的
事。"
Up to one's ears这个习惯用语在下面这句句子里的意思就不同了:
例句-5:"The mayor says he didn't know people on his staff were taking bribes. But my guess
is he's up to his ears in it."
这句话的意思是:"市长说他不知道他手下的工作人员接受贿赂。可是,我猜想他完全是介入这些事
的。"
今天我们讲了两个习惯用语,第一个是 to keep an ear to the ground,意思是保持高度警觉。另
一个是 up to one's ears,这是指很忙,或者是完全介入某件事的意思。
1. 【heyo】 , 是在英国很常说的一个口头语,其实就是hello 的口头说法,多用于一些非正式场合,和 好友 ,同龄人之间使用, 用法同 hi or hello 一样。
2. 【you /all right】 如果别人问你 you/ all right ? 你可能会不知所云,
但是如果我换一种方法说你就会豁然开朗,how are you.
同上,you/all right 也多用在非正式场合。你可以和你的外教这样打招呼,前提是你们互相知道对方,
但是最好不要对传统的中国英语教师这样说,因为他们prefer 【how are you. fine, thank you. and you?】
eg: heyo mate , you right ? or hi, you guys all right ?
3.【cheers】 在这里我不得不重点说下cheers, 因为这个词在英国很常用, 几乎充斥着我的所有生活。
他的意思很多样,不好具体解释,大体上和 thanks and thank you 差不多,
区别在于,如果对别人的帮助你想很politely 感谢,你可以说 thank you ! 如果你只是想说点什么,就用cheers。
下面给大家几个我生活中的例子,方便体会下。
eg: hi , give me 1 pound money apples. 我要一磅钱的苹果
cheers. 好类!
(In the phone) maaaam, i m going to join in a party , tonight. 老妈,我今晚要参加个聚会
sound nice, but dont drunk,and dont back so late. 恩,别醉了早点回来 i will , dont worry. cheers bye. 我知道,别担心,那就这样,byebye!
"do you have any help at of all." 能帮你做些什么吗
"get this jeans for me , please. i wanna try it" 帮我拿下那个裤子,我想试试
"all right,...............your jeans" 好的, 给您 " cheers" 谢谢。
4.【 juses 】 原意是指耶稣,但是英国人常把 juses 挂在嘴边, 他的用法和 o my god ! 差不多, 但在程度上没有 o my god 那么吃惊,
多些 抱怨,牢骚 的成分。 给几个例子!
eg: 如果在街上几个花枝招展的怀春少女,看到鸽子飞来就大惊小叫 ,像这样的哗众取宠 你就可以说:
oh, juses !
如果 当你准备回家,在开车子的时候发现因为下雨,锁绣了,开不开了,这是你就可以说:
juses! what the fucking day!
或者,你在买东西的时候发现自己没带钱包,你就可以说,
oh, juses , i m soooo sorry, i had left my wallet.
5. 【for god's sake】 这个词如果经常看英剧的朋友应该不会陌生, 但是切忌不要乱说,在这里我就说下自己给这个词的理解。
除了 for god's sake 外 还有 for fuck's sake and for christ's sake
表示“ 看在。。。。的份儿上” 这个词在你极度生气,或是别人做了什么让你特别特别恼火,让你不知道该怎么办,无可奈何的时候说,
不到这个程度最好别说,特别好的好朋友除外。
eg:(skins ) tony, can you turn down the volume, for christ's sake.
ye,ye, i m trying, but doesn't work.
can't you plug out.
alright.
ooooooooh, every fucking morning.
这是英剧皮囊skins里的一段,大概是这样,我记不太清了。 如果想了解下英国青少年他们的生活,说话方式,skins 是一个不错的选择,如果你15岁一下最好不要看。。。
2016演讲稿怎么写才足够完美
guys用在什么场合 第七篇
演讲稿是人们在工作和社会生活中经常使用的一种文体。它可以用来交流思想、感情,表达 主张、见解;也可以用来介绍自己的学习、工作情况和经验等等。但不管演讲稿是用在什么场合,写一份优秀的演讲稿还是需要技巧的,下面就跟小编一起来看看演讲稿怎么写才足够完美吧!
1、根据演讲活动的性质与目的来确立讲题
所谓讲题,就是演讲的中心话题。演讲稿的撰写必须在一个有社会或科学价值、有现实意义 或学术意义的特定问题中展开,否则,将是无的放矢。演讲者总是根据演讲的性质、目的来确定选题的。若被邀请作学术演讲,就应该介绍自己最 新的研究成果或自己掌握的最新的学术信息,这样的话题才最具学术性。如果是在思想教育 性的演讲活动上作演讲,就应该针对现实中最新鲜的现象和听众最关心的问题发表见解。就 连竞选演说和就职演说,也要能把握住听众的理想和愿望来选题。
2、根据演讲主题与听众情况来选择材料
材料是演讲稿的血肉,所以材料的选择和使用在演讲稿的写作过程中是一个重要的环节。首先要围绕主题筛选材料。主题是演讲稿的思想观点,是演讲的宗旨 所在。材料是主题形成 的基础,又是表现主题的支柱。演讲稿的思想观点必须靠材料来支撑,材料必须能充分地表 现主题,有力地支持主题。所以,凡是能充分说明、突出、烘托主题的材料就应选用,否则 就舍弃,要做到材料与观点的统一。另外,还要选择那些新颖的、典型的、真实的材料,使 主题表现得更深刻、更有力。材料的选择还要考虑到听众的情况。听众的政治素质、社会地位、文化教养,以及心 理需求等,都对演讲有制约作用。
选用的材料要尽量贴近听众的生活,这样,不仅容 易使他们心领神会,而且听起来也会饶有兴味。一般而言,对青少年的演讲应形象有趣,寓 理于事,举例要尽量选择他们所崇拜的人和有轰动效应的事;对工人、农民的演讲,要生动 风趣、通俗浅显,尽可能列举他们周围的人和发生在他们中间的事作例子。而对知识分子的 演讲,使用材料则必须讲究文化层次。
各位朋友们、同事们:
辛苦一年了,向您和您的家人问好,并给你们拜年了!
在过去的一年中,SOHO中国公司取得了历史上从来没有过的好成绩,超额完成了年初预计的各项任务。我们为北京又建设出了一批具有时代感的、漂亮的建筑,它们已经成了城市的亮点,吸引着无数热爱生活、崇尚美感的人们的目光,得到了大家的赞许,又给一批公司和个人提供了工作场所。我和大家一样为这些成绩感到自豪和骄傲。
我和大家一样为这些成绩感到自豪和骄傲
这些销售成绩和建筑成就,是全公司每一位同事辛勤努力的结果,是用自己的心、用自己的汗水浇灌出来的果实。在这个过程中,大家克服了无数困难,也经受了许多考验,甚至是非常艰难的考验。但这些困难和考验让我们每个人、每个部门的精神品质都在成长,让我们更加诚实、更有责任心、更有服务意识、更加团结,让我们懂得付出和收获之间的奥秘。走进我们的办公室,走进我们的每一个工地,看到每位同事的笑脸,专注、专业的工作态度和精神,都不会简单地认为这只是为了利润指标的完成,只是一座座大楼的建成,而这背后一定有精神、灵魂的成长和进步。
2016年的销售成绩和建筑成就,是全公司每一位同事辛勤努力的结果
这一年来,我们公司和每位同事的进步,离不开客户对我们的支持,离不开几百家合作单位的支持和配合,更离不开近万名工人辛勤的劳动和努力,我们只是这伟大项目和工程中的一个部分、一个环节。团结合作是这个时代最重要的特征,是我们必须锻炼和提高的美德之一,也是最重要的美德。在此向与我们合作的所有单位、尊敬的朋友们,以及近万名工人致以节日的问候,给大家拜年了!
SOHO中国基金会其中一个重要项目“美德在行动”今年将要覆盖300所学校,超过10万名学生受益,他们与我们一起进步!
当我们追问人的本质是什么,答案是精神的,是灵魂的。
当我们追问我们企业的基础是什么,答案是诚实、团结、创新的美德。这是我们不变的追求,是我们建造楼房、创造物质财富的基础,是指导我们每一个决策、每一句话、每一个行动的标准。“诚实、团结、创新”更是我们的企业文化,在此与大家共勉!
最后,祝2016年各位同事成长、进步、快乐!
